Vermont-Brooklyn Postponed Due to Fog

August 29, 2003 - New York-Penn League (NYPL)
Vermont Lake Monsters News Release

BROOKLYN, NY --- The Vermont Expos offense has been in a fog on the road all season, so it only seems fitting that their New York-Penn League game at Brooklyn on Friday night was postponed due to fog.

A thick fog rolled off the Atlantic Ocean and covered Brooklyn's KeySpan Park during the Expos batting practice about an hour before the scheduled 7:00 p.m. start. The teams waited until about 8:45 before the game was postponed and re-scheduled as part of a doubleheader on Saturday.

That doubleheader will be a pair of seven-inning games beginning at 4:00 p.m. WVAA (1390 AM) will broadcast the first game of the doubleheader, but there will be no radio broadcast of the second game.

Vermont will go into the doubleheader with an overall record of 18-51, including just 4-30 on the road this season. The Expos have scored just five runs in their last six road games and are hitting .190 as a team in the 34 away games.

After the doubleheader on Saturday and a single game with the Cyclones on Sunday, Vermont will return home to end the 2003 season with a three-game series against the Lowell Spinners beginning on Monday with a special 5:05 p.m. Labor Day start.
