Muckdogs Fight, But Fall in 13

Batavia Muckdogs News Release
Batavia, NY - In what has become an all too familiar trend, the Muckdogs dropped another extra inning contest on Thursday night. The final score was Jamestown 5, Batavia 3.
The game was not lost because of a lack of opportunity, but from a lack of taking advantage of the chance. The Muckdogs amassed 13 hits and drew 6 walks on the night, but stranded 12 base runners.
Bryan Hansen and Kiel Fisher had 3 hits each while the top of the order, Michael Bourn and Javon Moran, each had 2 hits. Bourn continued his recent surge with 2 stolen bases as well.
Trailing 3-2 into the 8th inning, the Muckdogs got a 2 out RBI from Jose Cortez to tie the game. That hit would mean the game would go long into the night as neither team could manage to put upu a crooked number until the 13th.
In the 13th inning, reliever Chris Rupuert showed off his devastating pick-off move, as he picked two men off, and would have had a third if not for a throwing error by the first baseman Hansen. However, in between all the action at first base, The Jammers managed to get the go ahead run across, on a flair to right field by Ryan Bear. Bear would then score on a triple by Ryan Blake.
The Muckdogs hop that heading out of New York state for a weekend series with the New Jerssey Cardinals will be the cure for the losing streak. Game one of the series is tonight at 7:05 PM.
