Hamilton Tiger-Cats News Release

Hamilton, Ontario - The Hamilton Tiger-Cats announced today that Tim Micallef will no longer serve as the team's play-by-play announcer due to his expanding role with The Score television network.

"We were very fortunate to work alongside one of the industry's rising stars for the past three seasons," said executive vice-president Adam Provost. "After sitting down with Tim, both parties agreed that he would be unable to provide the time necessary to perform at a level that the fans and the organization have come to expect. We are and always will be the biggest supporters of Tim and we wish him continued success with his increased responsibilities at The Score."

Micallef has served as the Ticats' play-by-play announcer on the their flagship station, AM 900 CHML, since 2004.

"My role at The Score is expanding to the point where I can't guarantee the time and commitment the great fans of the Ticats deserve," Micallef remarked. "This was a very difficult decision to make as Hamilton has the most passionate fan base in the CFL. The fans deserve someone who is able to put as much of their heart and soul into the job as they do in supporting the team."

The industry veteran has been with The Score since November of 1998, serving in various capacities including host of Score Tonight.

"I firmly believe that the last three years have gone a long way in helping me become a better broadcaster. The passion of the fans demanded that I work my butt off and I think I did that - in fact, I worked my hair off as well." Micallef said with a laugh. "This in no way means that I will stop showing up at Ivor Wynne Stadium. I sincerely hope the relationships that I have built with the fans and the organization will continue to grow in the coming years."

The Ticats kick off their 2007 campaign with a game against the Blue Bombers in Winnipeg on June 14th.
