Des Moines, Iowa. - The Miami Heat have signed Iowa Energy center Hassan Whiteside, the team announced today. Per team policy, terms of the deal are not disclosed.
Whiteside (7-0, 275) has played in three games for the Energy, averaging 22.0 points, 15.7 rebounds and 5.3 blocks on .857 shooting. This is the second NBA Call-Up for Whiteside in the last week. On Nov. 19, the Memphis Grizzlies re-signed Whiteside. Whiteside did not appear in a game and was waived the following day. The 25-year-old holds NBA career averages of 1.5 points, 2.1 rebounds and 0.79 blocks on .444 shooting in 5.8 minutes in 19 games (zero starts) with the Sacramento Kings (2010-2012).
