Miami FC News Release
Miami, Fla. - The Miami Football Club hosts Eastern Conference foe Detroit City FC at FIU Stadium on Wednesday at 7 p.m. ET. Miami FC hopes to find its tenth goal of the season after two scoreless results.
The Orange and Blue are coming off a 2-0 home loss against Western Conference aces San Antonio FC on Saturday. Despite Miami's possession dominance throughout the match, San Antonio was more direct in attack and clinical in front of goal.
"We got into some good areas, but again that final piece was lacking," said head coach Anthony Pulis after the game. "[We need] just a little bit more conviction, a little bit more quality and a bit more decisiveness with our final pass, our final shot."
Prior to the game, MFC drew 0-0 against Birmingham Legion at Protective Stadium on Thursday, May 5. The draw marked Miami's first-ever point recorded against Legion FC and its fifth clean sheet of the season.
The South Florida side continues its three-game, seven-day stretch against Eastern Conference third-place Detroit City FC.
Mark Segbers set to make 100th USL Championship appearance
Right-back Mark Segbers could make his 100th USL Championship appearance on Wednesday. Coincidentally, former Memphis 901 FC teammate Pierre da Silva struck the same milestone against San Antonio FC on Saturday.
Segbers joined Miami FC in the Winter and has since played ten league games and the U.S. Open Cup third-round match against Inter Miami CF. The 26-year-old landed his name on the USL Championship Team of the Week 1 after notching a goal and an assist on opening night against NY Red Bulls II. Moreover, he helped the side to five league clean sheets.
