
Mexico Brings First-Teamers for Friendly

Secaucus, NJ (April 12, 2002) â World Cup-bound Mexico has announced its 23-man roster for the upcoming friendly at Giants Stadium on Wednesday, April 17 at 9:00 p.m. ET against Bulgaria.
Headlining the first-team roster for coach Javier Aguirre will be prominent Mexican stars Cuahutemoc Blanco (Valladolid, Spain), Francisco Palencia (Espanyol, Spain), Luis Hernandez (America), and Alberto Garcia Aspe (Puebla).
Tickets for the international are on sale through all Ticketmaster locations in the tri-state area, or by calling Ticketmaster directly at 201-507-8900, 212-307-7171, 845-454-3388, or 609-520-8383. Fans can also call the MetroStars at 1-888-4Metrotix to purchase group tickets or a special two-game package created specifically for the Mexican soccer community.
The special two-game package includes the Mexico vs. Bulgaria game, as well as the MetroStars' Cinco De Mayo celebration match on Saturday, May 4th, when they host the Dallas Burn at 8 p.m. ET. Prices for the package start at $33.
Individual tickets are priced at $25, $35, $45, and $55, and group tickets are available from $20-$55 per person.
Mexico will be making their 14th appearance in this summer's World Cup in Japan/South Korea. Anschutz Entertainment Group, owner/operator of the MetroStars, is marketing Mexico's U.S. tour prior to the World Cup. The Mexicans are grouped with Croatia, Italy, and Ecuador in this summer's World Cup competition.
Bulgaria will be making their second playing appearance in New York/New Jersey in less than a month, following their March 27 international friendly against Ecuador at Giants Stadium. They have yet to release their roster.

DEFENDERS: Manuel Vidrio (Pachuca), Melvin Brown (Cruz Azul), Francisco Gabriel (Puchuca), Rafael Marquez (Monaco, France), Alberto Rodriguez (Puchuca), Salvador Carmona (Toluca).
MIDFIELDERS: Rafael Garcia (Toluca), German Villa (America), Gerardo Torrado (Seville, Spain), Joahan Rodriguez (Santos), Alberto Garcia Aspe (Puebla), Sigifredo Mercado (Atlas), Braulio Luna (Necaxa), Grabiel Caballerro (Pachuca), Ramon Morales (Chivas).
FORWARDS: Cuahutemoc Blanco (Valladolid, Spain), Francisco Palencia (Espanyol, Spain), Jared Borgueti (Santos), Jesus Arellano (Monterrey), Luis Hernandez (America).
