St. Lucie Mets News Release

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. (September 6, 2015) - The Bradenton Marauders rallied to defeat the St. Lucie Mets 6-2 in the final game of the 2015 season on Sunday afternoon at Tradition Field.

With the loss, the Mets finish the season 68-70. They were bidding to get their record to .500 for the 35th time this season. The Mets went 35-35 in the first half and 33-35 in the second half. Two games against Brevard County in July were cancelled due to rain.

On Sunday, Colton Plaia drilled a RBI single up the middle to put the Mets up 2-1 in the fourth.

However, the Marauders sent 10 to the plate in the fifth and scored five runs off of Kelly Secrest. Junior Sosa turned a 2-1 deficit into a 3-2 lead with a two-run triple.

Frank Duncan held the Mets to two runs in six innings. Three Bradenton relievers - Isaac Sanchez, Miguel Rosario and Henry Hirsch - combined to retire all nine batters they faced to finish the game.

The Mets used their bullpen from start to finish. Closer Kyle Regnault got the start. He tossed three innings and gave up one run. Regnault finished the year with a 1.99 ERA.

Secrest was tagged for five runs in 1.2 innings. David Roseboom shut out the Marauders for 3.1 innings. Jimmy Duff pitched a scoreless ninth with two strikeouts.

Matt Oberste entered the game with a .298 average and went 2 for 3 with a double and single to boost his average to .301.

Champ Stuart and Plaia had two hits apiece for the Mets. Plaia finished the season with a .285 average as the Mets primary catcher.

Jeff McNeil, promoted to Binghamton last week, ends up as the team leader with a .312 average. He was two percentage points behind FSL leading Willians Astudillo for the league lead. Astudillo was not in Clearwater's lineup on Sunday so he will finish in first.

Mets starting pitcher Logan Taylor ends up leading the team in wins with eight.

Michael Conforto led the Mets with seven home runs despite not playing in a game since late May. Dominic Smith and Oberste tied for second with six long balls.

Akeel Morris led the team with 13 saves.
