MetroStars Visit Baltimore
January 18, 2019 - Major Arena Soccer League (MASL)
Mississauga MetroStars News Release
The Mississauga MetroStars venture out on a four game road trip starting this weekend with a match Sunday in Baltimore against MASL Eastern Division rivals the Blast at the SECU Arena at Towson University (kickoff 2:00 pm ET).
? ?The MetroStars (2-6) completed a four-game homestand last week with a heartbreaking 5-4 loss to Eastern Division leaders Utica City FC. Mississauga looked poised to earn its third win of the season when Halburto Harris netted his first goal of the year with just 47 seconds left in the fourth quarter. But UCFC's top scorers Slavisa Ubiparipovic and Joey Tavernese both struck in the final 39 seconds of the match to overturn the result and snatch an unlikely victory from the jaws of defeat. Despite the loss, MetroStars forward Jonathan Osorio had a memorable debut, scoring once and adding an assist in his first ever MASL match.
? ?Meanwhile, Baltimore (5-2) played host to Harrisburg Heat and, despite the visitors keeping things close until the second half, the Blast broke a 4-4 deadlock late in the third quarter and struck for five unanswered goals on their way to a 9-4 victory. Vini Dantas netted two goals and contributed two assists in the Blast win.
? ?This will be the third meeting between the MetroStars and the Blast this season. Baltimore won the first match back on December 1 by a score of 11-3 and also earned a 6-5 overtime victory over the MetroStars in Mississauga on January 3.
? ?The MetroStars added Lerohne Young to the inactive list while Luis Rocha and Martinho Dumevski continue to be sidelined with injuries.
? ?The MetroStars face the Baltimore Blast Sunday at the SECU Arena at Towson University in Baltimore, MD, with kickoff set for 2:00pm (ET). The match will be live streamed on MASL.tv at maslsoccer.com.
