MetroStars Home Opener Saturday
December 7, 2018 - Major Arena Soccer League (MASL)
Mississauga MetroStars News Release
The Mississauga MetroStars open the home schedule of their inaugural 2018/19 regular season campaign in the Major Arena Soccer League (MASL) Saturday when they host the Florida Tropics at the Paramount Fine Foods Centre (kickoff 3:05 pm ET).
The MetroStars lost the season opener last week in Baltimore, dropping an 11-3 decision to the defending champion Blast. Dwayne De Rosario scored the MetroStars first ever MASL goal at 6:55 of the second quarter. De Rosario would go on to add a second goal while Mo Babouli added the other on a power play.
Meanwhile, the Tropics rolled past their South Central Division rivals St Louis Ambush 9-4 in their home opener at Lakeland, Florida last weekend. Victor Parreiras scored two goals to pace the Tropics. The win also marked the Tropics debut for goalkeeper Hugo Silva who faced 29 shots.
The MetroStars welcome ex-Tropics midfielder Marco Rodriguez back to the lineup to face some of his former Florida teammates after sitting out a suspension last weekend. Midfielder Luis Rocha suffered an injury in training this week and will be unavailable for the game against the Tropics.
The MetroStars face the Florida Tropics Saturday at the Paramount Fine Foods Centre with kickoff set for 3:05pm (ET). The match will be live streamed on MASL.tv at maslsoccer.com.
