MetroStars Face Comets at Home
December 12, 2018 - Major Arena Soccer League (MASL)
Mississauga MetroStars News Release
For the second time in six days, the Major Arena Soccer League's Mississauga MetroStars will face a South Central Division opponent when they host the Kansas City Comets tomorrow night at the Paramount Fine Foods Centre (kickoff 7:35 pm ET).
The Eastern Division's MetroStars (1-1) won handily last Saturday when they earned a 10-0 shutout victory over the Florida Tropics in the club's inaugural season home opener. Forward Mo Babouli led the scoring parade with three goals and two assists, a performance that earned him the honour of being selected to the MASL Team of the Week. Goalkeeper Adrian Becic stopped 13 shots for the shutout and was included amongst the league's top Goals Against and Save Percentage leaders for Week 2.
The Comets (0-1) come into the Paramount Fine Foods Centre well rested, having not played since the opening weekend of the season when they dropped a 10-6 decision on the road to the Milwaukee Wave. Forward Ramone Palmer had two goals and an assist in a losing cause.
With a short turnaround between games, MetroStars head coach and GM Phil Ionadi stressed fitness and conditioning during training this week. MetroStars' midfielder Luis Rocha will not be available tomorrow as he continues to rehabilitate an injury sustained in training last week.
The MetroStars would like to remind fans of the ticket exchange initiative launched just yesterday in collaboration with Mayor Bonnie Crombie and the City of Mississauga in support of the Mississauga Food Bank. Anyone who deposits a non-perishable food item at the MetroStars' kiosk at the SportZone recreational complex adjacent to the Paramount Fine Foods Centre between 5:00-10:00pm tonight and beginning one hour prior to game time tomorrow will receive a ticket to tomorrow night's game. There are a limited number of tickets available so fans are encouraged to drop by the kiosk early to make their donation.
The MetroStars face the Kansas City Comets Thursday at the Paramount Fine Foods Centre with kickoff set for 7:35pm (ET). The match will be live streamed on MASL.tv at maslsoccer.com.
