St. Louis Ambush News Release

St. Charles, MO - The St. Louis Ambush kick off the home portion of their 2018-19 Major Arena Soccer League season when they host the Kansas City Comets Sunday, December 16 at 3:05 p.m. CST at the Family Arena.

Besides being cross-state rivals, the Ambush and Comets both vie in the MASL South Central Division. Whenever these two teams play, a contingent of fans from the visiting team make their way to the games, providing a fun and vibrant atmosphere for this friendly I-70 rivalry. The two teams will see plenty of each other this season as they will clash six times with Sunday's game being the first of three in a row. They meet again at the Silverstein Eye Centers Arena in Independence next Saturday, then back at the Family Arena Saturday, December 29 at 7:05 p.m. CST.

Ambush fans will see some familiar faces when the Comets come to town on Sunday. Comets defender Odaine Sinclair played three seasons (2013-16) with the Ambush and won the Rookie of the Year honor for the 2013-14 season as a member of the team. Comets Assistant Coach Jeff Davis is a St. Louis native who played professional indoor soccer 14 seasons, including stints with the original St. Louis Ambush (1993-96) and the St. Louis Steamers (2000, 2001 and 2004-05). His entire professional indoor soccer career was spent with either a Kansas City or St. Louis team.

The Ambush will take to the field on Sunday having an eight day rest, while Sunday's match will the third in four days for the Comets, who face the Mississauga Metrostars on Thursday in Canada, then have their own home opener on Saturday night against the Milwaukee Wave in Independence. Depending on the outcome of those games, the Comets will invade the Family Arena with either a 2-1, 1-2 or 0-3 record. The Ambush head into Sunday's duel looking to improve on their 1-2 start on the young season.

Ambush fans will see some new faces on the home team on Sunday. Three new players on the Ambush roster (midfielder Mario Marcos, defender Felipe and defender Magui) came from open tryouts held in Brazil this summer. Two other acquisitions help give the Ambush a new look. Speedy midfielder Antonio Manfut was signed as a free agent during the off-season and defender Douglas Dos Santos was acquired in November in a transaction with Harrisburg. The Ambush also added 22-year-old goalkeeper Marijo Musa this month. Another new face is rookie Zach Reget, who was signed last season but didn't play his first major league game until this season, having appeared in all three. The newcomers have made their mark thus far, as seven of the 15 goals scored by the Ambush in the first three games came from Marcos (three goals), Reget (two goals), Manfut (one goal) and Magui (one goal).

The first 2,000 fans in attendance at the Family Arena on Sunday will receive a free 2018-19 magnet schedule and fans will be invited after the game to participate in a free autograph session on the field following the game.

Season, group and single game tickets are on sale for all home games. For more information on season and group tickets, call the Ambush office at 636-477-6363. Keep up to date on all Ambush news by following the official website, stlambush.com and on Facebook and Twitter.
