Ricardo Carvalho scored four goals, including his 21st of the season to pace the visiting Harrisburg Heat to an 8-4 victory over the Mississauga MetroStars in an MASL Eastern Division battle Saturday afternoon at the Paramount Fine Foods Centre in Mississauga, ON.
? ?Carvalho opened the scoring for Harrisburg at 3:24 of the first quarter with a low drive from just inside the yellow line just as a MetroStars penalty to Shawn Brown was expiring. William Benahene came on in relief of Heat starting goalkeeper Matt Perrella after he was injured in a collision with Brown just 1:24 into the game.
? ?Jarred Phillips tied the match for the MetroStars in the second quarter but the Heat netted twice before halftime through Tavoy Morgan and Dom Francis to take a 3-1 lead into the change rooms.
? ?Harrisburg dominated the third quarter and opened up a 6-1 lead with three consecutive goals including Dylan Hundelt's 4th of the season and Carvalho's third of the game late in that frame. Francis opened the fourth quarter with his second of the game and 14th of the season and Carvalho made it 8-1 with a power play goal, his fourth of the game.
? ?Mississauga staged a late rally as Darren Chambers scored on a low roller from well out just 30 seconds after the Carvalho goal. MetroStars scoring leader Mo Babouli then netted twice in 2:00 including a penalty shot after a handball infraction by the Heat's Julian Escobar. Babouli's second goal of the game, his 17th of the season, came with just four seconds left on the clock. But it was far too little, too late for the MetroStars, whose record falls to 3-15. Harrisburg improves to 7-10 and remains third in the Eastern Division standings.
? ?The MetroStars travel to Utica next Sunday, March 17 to face Eastern Division leaders Utica City FC. Mississauga will return to the Paramount Fine Foods Centre Friday, March 22, for their final home game of the season. Kickoff is 7:35pm (ET).
