SECAUCUS, NJ (Thursday, March 4, 2004) - The MetroStars announced today that they have acquired Jamaican forward Fabian Taylor as a Transitional International player using a Discovery pick. Pending visa approval, the member of the Jamaican National team is slated to join the Metros in Fort Lauderdale on March 9th, for the third leg of the team's preseason training.

"Fabian is an exciting young forward with an excellent goal scoring record," said MetroStars Head Coach Bob Bradley. "We are excited to bring him to the MetroStars, and we believe that he is a good addition to our young team. We feel he has the potential to make an impact for the MetroStars."

The 23-year-old Taylor has earned 29 caps with the Jamaican National Team since making his first appearance with the full team in 1999. With the Reggae Boyz, he has tallied nine goals.

On the club level Taylor has spent the last four years with Harbour View Football Club of the Jamaican Wray and Nephew National Premier League, Jamaica's top professional soccer league. He has had success throughout his four years with Harbour View, however, this season he has emerged as one of the premier players in the league. He has been named the player of the month for the past four months, and currently leads the league with 19 goals.

"We are excited to be able to sign an up-and-coming goal scorer like Fabian," said MetroStars President and General Manager Nick Sakiewicz. "Fabian has proved on both the club and National team level that he is able to score goals, and that is an area that we are trying to address this off season."

Taylor stands at 5'10 and 165 pounds, and before playing for Harbour View Football Club he spent time with Central Links Football Club, in Jamaica's A-League.
