New York Red Bulls News Release

SECAUCUS, NJ (Thursday, May 8, 2003) - The MetroStars today acquired defender Juan Forchetti and midfielder José Galván on loan from Argentine giants Boca Juniors. The duo will count as transitional internationals. The players will join the team once their visas are processed. Both players started two games for the Metros against Boca Juniors and Huracán in Argentina during preseason training in March.

"We are pleased to finalize the deal to bring José and Juan to the MetroStars," said MetroStars coach Bob Bradley. "They are both young and talented players that I think will help us this season. It's also very good to work with Boca Juniors and hope we can continue to work with them in the future."

Forchetti, 22, made his professional debut for Boca Juniors on February 10, 2002, in a 3-2 win over Belgrano de Córdoba. The native of Tres Arroyos has played nine games for Boca Juniors. He started against the Metros for Boca Juniors in the first preseason game between the two teams in March before being invited into camp for the Metros. He then started against Boca and Huracan for the Metros as Bradley continued to find pieces to rebuild the team. The solid defender also played against the Metros on June 19, 2002, in an exhibition match at Giants Stadium, which the Metros won 3-2 over Boca Juniors.

"We're really excited that we will be receiving two young talented players from Boca Juniors," said MetroStars President and General Manager Nick Sakiewicz. "This loan marks the first step in what is going to be a broad relationship with the Boca Juniors club and the MetroStars for many years to come. We are very honored that we are part of a relationship with Boca Juniors that is going to produce many opportunities like this."

The 22-year-old Galván has yet to make his professional debut, but joins the Metros after spending preseason with the team. The Tucumán native also played two games for the Metros in Argentina after competing against the team for Boca Juniors in the first contest.
