Mesquite Outlaws Win Historic Home Opener vs. Dallas Sidekicks

Mesquite, Texas -ÃÂ The Mesquite Outlaws were victorious in their historic home opener vs. cross-town rival Dallas Sidekicks in the Nov. 30, 2019 matchup at the Mesquite Arena. The final score was 7-5. Approximately 3,359 fans attended the first game for the Major Arena Soccer League expansion team.
The first half opened with a Cameron Brown goal for the Sidekicks, followed by four unanswered Outlaws goals. The first two of those came from midfielder Jorge DeLeon, followed by goals from forward Jamie Lovegrove and forward Shawn David. Forward Anthony Powell assisted on two of those goals. Closing out the half was another Sidekicks goal, this one also scored by the forward Brown.
The second half was a back-and-forth between teams scoring goals. It began with a Mitchell Cardenas goal for the Outlaws, which was met by a Sidekicks goal by midfielder Arthur Ivo with an assist from midfielder RJ Luevano. Outlaws defender Clark Binning scored next with an assist by Ramón Núñez. The Sidekick's next goal came from Ray Aguayo and was met by a goal from Outlaws forward VcMor Eligwe with an assist from defender Cardenas. Both of those were scored while the Sidekicks had six attackers on the field. The Sidekicks finished the half with a goal by midfielder Luiz Felipe Xavier De Andrade, assisted by Luevano.
Stars of the game for the Mesquite Outlaws included DeLeon, who scored two goals, and Lovegrove, who scored one goal and had one assist. For the Sidekicks, Brown scored two goals.
