Mesquite Outlaws Welcome Stephen Gonzales for the 2022-2023 Season

Stephen Gonzales joins the Mesquite Outlaws for the upcoming 2022-2023 season. Per team and league policies, terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
Gonzales is a defender from Red Oak, Texas. Growing up GonzalesCruz played for many teams in the Dallas area. He played for teams such as Vaqueros, Dallas Kicks, and FC Dallas Academy. With FC Dallas, Gonzales and his achieved many successes, such as, winning the 2015 Dr Pepper Dallas Cup XXXVI, and were also the champions of USYS Region III.
Gonzales attended Life High School in Waxahachie. During his time at Life High School, Gonzales was named Most Valuable Player for the 2015-2016 National League. He and his team also won three-straight State Cup titles. He also played football and basketball in high school as well.
After graduating from Life High School, Gonzales attended Grand Canyon University in 2016, where he majored in Sports Medicine. At Grand Canyon University, Gonzales appeared in six games, played 138 minutes, and attempted two shots during the season.
The 2022-2023 season will be Gonzales's second season in the Major Arena Soccer League and his first with the Mesquite Outlaws. During his time in the Major Arena Soccer League, Gonzales appeared in 18 regular-season games, 2 play-off games, scored one goal, had 4 assists, and 14 blocked opponent shots.
When asked about playing for the Outlaws, Gonzales said, "It's an incredible chance to play for this coaching staff. My game will advance thanks to the expertise these coaches bring to practice, especially after my first season in the league where I was still learning the rules of the indoor game."
"I believe things can only get better from here. I am excited to still be playing in my home city and still play in front of my friends and family."
"With a new team and new journey, the objective stays the same. Since the Outlaws have been absent for two seasons, this is the perfect chance to put them back on the map."
The Mesquite Outlaws begin their regular season on December 3rd against the Monterrey Flash at the Mesquite Arena in Mesquite, Texas.
