
Mercury Signs Ashley Joens to Hardship Contract

PHOENIX - The three-time WNBA Champion Phoenix Mercury announced today that they have signed guard Ashley Joens to a hardship contract.
Joens, a 6-1 rookie out of Iowa State, was selected 19th overall by the Dallas Wings in the 2023 WNBA Draft. Joens has spent time with both the Wings and Las Vegas Aces this season, appearing in 11 games.
A 5-year starter for the Cyclones, Joens averaged 19.4 points and 8.8 rebounds, leading Iowa State to four NCAA Tournament appearances and the 2023 Big 12 Championship title. The 2022 and 2023 All-American earned 2023 Big 12 Player of the Year honors, was a 4-time unanimous All-Big 12 First Team selection and finished her career as the Cyclone's all-time leading scorer.
