Memphis Redbirds News Release

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - A week-long series against the Toledo Mud Hens (Triple-A affiliate, Detroit Tigers) at AutoZone Park ended on a sour note, as the visitors scored the game's final four runs en route to a 4-1 victory on a Sunday afternoon.

Early on, things looked good for the Redbirds (12-18), as Ali Sánchez slugged a solo shot in the bottom of the second to give Memphis an early 1-0 lead. The catcher finished the series with six total hits and four RBIs.

Grant Black also impressed in his first Triple-A start. The Arkansas native tossed four scoreless innings, surrendering just three hits without any walks and two strikeouts. Black was called up from Double-A Springfield earlier in the day, where he had made 10 relief appearances so far this season.

The game remained 1-0 until the seventh, when Toledo scored on an RBI single from Chris Proctor to tie the game. The Mud Hens pulled away with two runs in the eighth and one in the ninth. Daz Cameron singled and scored in the ninth. The outfielder and top Tigers prospect finished the series with hits in each of the final five games (seven total hits).

The Memphis Redbirds are the proud Triple-A Affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals. Memphis has claimed four League Championships and one Triple-A National Championship since their affiliation with St. Louis began in 1998.
