Lehigh Valley IronPigs News Release
(Moosic, PA) - The Lehigh Valley IronPigs (16-14) struggles continued at PNC Field on Sunday afternoon as they lost the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (19-9) 4-3. The Pigs are 45-68 now all-time in Moosic.
Trey Amburgey continued his strong hitting against the IronPigs as he put Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on the scoreboard in the bottom of the first inning. He hit an RBI double off Ethan Evanko to give the RailRiders a 1-0 lead.
The RailRiders extended the lead to 4-0 in the bottom of the second inning against Evanko when Max McDowell hit an RBI double to score Derek Dietrich and Hoy Jun Park hit a two-run home run to score he and McDowell. Evanko left the game after two innings pitched, in which he allowed four runs off four hits with one walk and two strikeouts.
Ramon Rosso tossed two scoreless innings in relief. He gave up just one hit and struck out three batters. Lehigh Valley got on the scoreboard in the top of the fifth inning against Nick Green to cut the lead in half, 4-2. Edgar Cabral walked with the bases loaded to score Ryan Cordell and
Rafael Marchan scored on an RBI groundout by Sal Gozzo.
Mickey Moniak hit his sixth home run of the season to cut the RailRiders lead to 4-3 in the top of the eighth inning. Damon Jones and Jeff Singer each pitched two scoreless innings in relief.
The Pigs return home on Tuesday at Coca-Cola Park. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
