Memphis 901 FC off to Atlanta Tomorrow Night
August 27, 2019 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
Memphis 901 FC News Release
MEMPHIS, Tennessee - Memphis 901 FC's four-match road trip rolls along tomorrow night at 6:30 (CT) at Atlanta United 2.
A challenging stretch on the Memphis 901 FC schedule continued last Saturday at Tampa Bay Rowdies, with the home club picking up a 5-0 win. Including that match, Memphis played eight-straight matches against teams in the playoff picture at the time Memphis played them (Tampa Bay, 3rd; Birmingham, 10th; North Carolina, 5th; Saint Louis, 10th; Pittsburgh, 6th; Ottawa, 8th; New York, 2nd; Nashville, 3rd) and 10-of-12 overall.
Memphis and Atlanta matched up earlier this season on April 10 at AutoZone Park in 901 FC's third home match of its inaugural season. Atlanta picked up the victory, 1-0, with Kevin Barajas scoring in the 45th minute.
901 FC forward Lagos Kunga is on loan from MLS' Atlanta United, and he played 33 matches and made 17 starts for Atlanta United 2 in the 2018 and 2019 seasons, scoring five goals and assisting on two more. He has appeared in 12 matches with six starts since joining 901 FC on May 13.
901 FC will be looking to avoid conceding late goals, which have hurt the club this season. In the last 15 minutes plus extra time of halves 901 FC has allowed 22 goals, which is 52.4 percent of its total goals surrendered this season (42). In extra time alone, Memphis has allowed six goals.
After tomorrow, 901 FC stays on the road for a Monday night match at Charleston Battery at 5:00 (CT) to make up a game postponed earlier this season. Memphis' next match in Downtown Memphis is Saturday, Sept. 7 against Swope Park Rangers.
Tickets for the remainder of the season are available at www.memphis901fc.com/tickets.
