
Memphis 901 FC Handles Phoenix Rising FC 3-1, Notches Sixth Consecutive Home Victory

Memphis, Tenn. - Memphis 901 fc notched their sixth consecutive home victory with a convincing 3-1 win over Phoenix Rising FC on Saturday night at AutoZone Park.
Memphis dominated the first 15 minutes of the first half, holding 71% of the possession with five shots to Phoenix's one, including three chances at goal from Phillip Goodrum and Niall Logue.
901 FC broke through in the 28th minute when Jeremy Kelly gathered the ball in transition and delivered a ball through to Luiz Fernando, who fed Goodrum the perfect crosser for his 10th goal of the season.
Memphis waited only five minutes to double their lead as Rece Buckmaster led the attack, feeding the ball to Kelly who showed perfect control on a give-and-go flick back to Buckmaster for a right-footed strike to the far post. The score marks Buckmaster's first goal and Kelly's seventh assist of the season, the most in the USL Championship.
Rising would answer with a Kevon Lambert header in the 36th minute.
Memphis put six of their 12 first half shots on target while holding 64% of possession and limiting Rising to just 68% passing accuracy rate.
901 FC held off 11 shots with four on target for Phoenix in the second half and sealed the victory with a 85th minute goal when Aaron Molloy sent a ball into the mixer that found Graham Smith. All three of Smith's goals this season have been assisted by Molloy.
901 FC is now unbeaten in their last 21 USL Championship matches when leading at halftime dating back to September 13, 2020.
Memphis 901 FC will finish their two-week homestand with a matchup of Eastern Conference giants as Louisville City FC visits AutoZone Park on Saturday, July 16 at 7:30 p.m. CT.
