
Toros Draw to New Mexico as They Rescue a Lone Point on the Road

ALBUQUERQUE, New Mexico - Rio Grande Valley F.C (7-9-3) matched up against New Mexico United (8-3-6) for the second time in four days at Isotopes Park. The match ended in a 1-1 draw as Rio Grande forced New Mexico's hand defensively. Jesus Vazquez scored the lone goal for the Toros on the night.
New Mexico opened the scoring at the 20th minute as Jerome Keisewetter sent a header into goal inside the box, Josh Suggs was credited with the assist on the play with the long lob pass from center field, 1-0.
Javier Garcia made a fantastic save at the line as he stretched to clear a header from Kiesewetter right in front of the goal at the 6-yard box to keep the match at 1-0.
The Toros closed out the half down 1-0, taking just two shots in the first period. New Mexico took three shots, placing two on target.
Ricky Ruiz placed a shot on target at the 64th minute as Alex Tambakis made the fingertip save to clear the danger to corner, 1-0.
Juan David Cabezas placed a header on target and forced Tambakis to make the stop at the line as he dove to the bottom left, 1-0.
Jesus Vazquez found the back of the net as he sent a header into the goal at the 89th minute to equalize, 1-1. The goal was Vazquez's first of the season, he subbed into the game at the 81st minute. Isidro Martinez was credited with his team-leading, sixth assist.
Garcia challenged a quick New Mexico attack and made the diving block at the foot of the box by using his body to keep the match equalized, 1-1 for RGV. Garcia ended the match on two saves and a clearance to aid the Toros on the night.
Rio Grande rescued one point out six possible on the weekend at New Mexico with the 1-1 draw on Saturday night. Cabrera's side were able to place four shots on target as they outshot New Mexico 14-7.
