INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana - Early pressure by Indy Eleven led to two goals in the first 22 minutes, and a second-half score sealed a 3-0 win over Memphis 901 FC Saturday night in Indianapolis, Ind.
Despite the defeat, 901 FC (9-15-7, 34 pts) has won five of its last seven games. Including this match at Indy, 11 of 901 FC's last 15 matches have been against teams in the playoff picture at the time they played Memphis.
Indy (18-9-5, 59 pts) continued its dominance at home, as it is now unbeaten in its last 24 matches at Lucas Oil Stadium dating back to July 7, 2018. Indy has only allowed five goals at home this season and has turned in 11 clean sheets.
Cristian Novoa opened the scoring for Indy in the 13th minute, and Karl Ouimette gave the home side a 2-0 lead with a 22nd-minute tally. Tyler Pasher, who entered as a sub in the 74th minute, scored Indy's third goal of the night just three minutes after entering.
901 FC had three shots on target in the match, with Marcus Epps having a well-intended shot in each half and Pierre Da Silva blasting a runner in the 27th minute. Indy Eleven won the possession battle, 60 percent-40 percent.
901 FC is back at AutoZone Park next Saturday night, Oct. 12, for its second-to-last home match of the regular season against Charlotte Independence. Memphis' final home match is Saturday, Oct. 19 against Louisville City FC. Both matches kick off at 7:00 p.m. In between is a Wednesday, Oct. 16 match at Charleston Battery.
