Saginaw, Mich. - The Saginaw Spirit take on the Moose Jaw Warriors, the WHL Champions, on Friday, May 31st at the Dow Event Center. This is the Semi-Final game of the 2024 Memorial Cup presented by Dow, with the winner advancing to the championship game on Sunday.

The Saginaw Spirit fell to the London Knights, 4-2, on Wednesday, May 29th, at the Dow Event Center. Alex Christopoulos scored the first goal of the game but London's Kasper Halttunen quickly responded to tie the game up at one apiece. Denver Barkey and Joey Willis both scored their first goals of the tournament in the second period to make the score 2-2 heading into the final period. Easton Cowan would score two goals in the final minutes of the game, giving the London Knights a 4-2 victory to advance them to the Memorial Cup Championship. Andrew Oke started in net for Saginaw, saving 31 of 34 shots on goal.
The Moose Jaw Warriors took on the Drummondville Voltigeurs on Tuesday, May 28th, at the Dow Event Center. Moose Jaw jumped out to a 3-0 lead with goals coming from Vojtech Port, Jagger Firkus, and Denton Mateychuk. However, Drummondville wouldn't give up as they'd go on to score three goals as well thanks to Peter Repcik, Justin Côté, and Alexis Gendron. In the end, a short handed goal from Aiden Ziprick and an empty netter from Brayden Yager, sealed a 5-3 victory for the Moose Jaw Warriors, eliminating the Drummondville Voltigeurs and advancing themselves to the Memorial Cup Semi-Finals. Jackson Unger started in net for Moose Jaw, grabbing a total of 49 of 52 shots on goal.
Players to Watch:
Zayne Parekh leads the Spirit squad in points (5) with one goal and four assists. Michael Misa follows Parekh in points (4) with a team leading four assists, three coming in Sunday's matchup against the Drummondville Voltigeurs. Alex Christopoulos is tied with Misa in points, earning a pair of goals and assists.
Denton Mateychuk has more points then anyone in the Memorial Cup tournament, boasting a total of three goals and four assists for a total of seven points. Behind Mateychuk is Brayden Yager with three goals and three assists for six points. Jackson Unger has made more saves than any other goaltender in the tournament so far, stopping a total of 103 shots on goal throughout Moose Jaw's round-robin series.
