Wilmington, DE - The Carolina League announced on Monday that Wilmington Blue Rocks right-hander Tim Melville has been named the CL Pitcher of the Week for the period ranging from July 24-30. It marks the second time a Wilmington pitcher has been honored by the league office in 2011, and the fourth time overall a Blue Rock has won an award. Elisaul Pimentel earned Pitcher of the Week honors in early-June, while John Whittleman and Nick Francis were named Players of the Week in mid-May and late-June respectively.

Melville beat the Kinston Indians on Friday in his only start of the week with seven scoreless frames. The right-hander pitched around a first-inning walk, but proceeded to retire the next 10 batters he faced. He took a no-hitter into the fifth and sat down the side in order five different times. His outing ended with five strikeouts and only the one free pass.

On the season, Melville has gone 8-6 with a 3.90 ERA. The 14th ranked prospect in the Kansas City system according to Baseball America is tied for sixth in the CL in wins. Since the All-Star break he is 2-0 with a 2.57 ERA.

He and the Rocks will open a six-game road trip in Winston-Salem tonight at 7:05 p.m. Broadcast coverage begins at 6:35 p.m. when studio host Adam Dobrowolski brings fans the Rocks Report Pre-game Show, presented by Wawa, on 89.7 WGLS-FM and online at wgls.rowan.edu.
