
Meier Commits to (D1) Bowling Green State University

Ralston, NE - Omaha Lancers second-year forward, Matt Meier, announced on Thursday his commitment to Bowling Green State University of the WCHA. Meier marks the 16th member of this year's current roster to be committed to a Division-I school.
"It's such an honor to be a part of Bowling Green State University's amazing program both on and off the ice," said Meier. "After the visit to their campus, I knew it was the right choice for me."
Mid-way through the 2014-2015 campaign, the native of Highlands Ranch, CO played in 37 games for the Lancers, who finished third in the Western Conference. Meier picked up eight goals and added six assists for 14 points.
"We're very excited for Matt to get this opportunity," said Lancers head coach Brian Kaufman. "Matt came in last season and has had a big impact on our organization. Bowling Green State University is an amazing fit for him athletically and academically. We wish him the best of luck."
This season, Meier has played in 44 games and increased his total points to five goals and 16 assists in 44 games. Prior to coming to Omaha, Meier attended a semester at the Air Force Academy putting up four points in 15 games.
Meier spent the 2013-2014 season with the Johnstown Tomahawks of the North American Hockey League and fired in 21 goals and 22 assists. In addition, Meier had a +16 rating in 56 games.
"The Lancers have done everything for me. So many aspects of my game have improved since coming here. I can't thank the coaches, front office, and fans enough for everything."
Bowling Green State University currently sits in second place of the WCHA through 34 overall games played. The Falcons included two big wins over Ohio State University and a victory over nationally ranked Minnesota State University-Mankato.
The Lancers are back on the road as the road trip continues tomorrow night inside the LC Walker Arena to face the Muskegon Lumberjacks at 6:15 p.m. CST.
