Force Add Tufte and Phillips to Roster
February 25, 2016 - United States Hockey League (USHL)
Fargo Force News Release
The Fargo Force have added forward Riley Tufte and defenseman Clayton Phillips to the roster, and both are eligible to play in this weekend's games versus the Lincoln Stars.
Riley Tufte, a forward out of Blaine, MN, rejoins the team following the end of his high school season with Blaine High School last weekend. Tufte played in 12 games with the Force at the start of the 2015-16 season scoring five goals and adding one assist. The University of Minnesota-Duluth commit is ranked 17th overall on the NHL Central Scouting North American Skater List, and is expected to be taken in the 1st round of the NHL Draft in June. This is the highest ranking of any Force player in the team's eight-year history. He will be back in jersey #26.
"We're excited to welcome Riley back to the team," said head coach Cary Eades. "He proved early on in the season that he's a physical force that skates well and has a good touch around the net. He's another piece to the puzzle as we look to solidify our forward units during this stretch run and playoff push."
Clayton Phillips, a defenseman from Edina, MN, was the Force's second pick, ninth overall in the first round of the 2015 USHL Future's Draft. He played in 25 games this year with Edina High School where he tallied 15 points with 2 goals and 13 assists. He's committed to the University of Minnesota following his junior hockey career. He will wear jersey #4.
"We think we have a real good one in Clayton," said Eades. "That's why we selected him in the first round in last year's USHL futures draft. He's a puck moving defenseman who can really skate. It'll be interesting to see how quickly he can make the transition from Edina High School to the USHL level. He's got a bright future ahead of him and we're looking forward to working with him."
