Fort Worth Cats News Release
Daniel Meeley and new Cat Logan Brumley each had three RBI a piece, and starting pitcher Aaron Wilkerson was solid again, as the Cats snapped their three-game skid in a 9-2 victory in Edinburg.
It was a pitching duel to begin the game, as only three total hits were registered after three innings. Only one team would end up with explosive offense, as Fort Worth's Aaron Wilkerson (7-1) was again fantastic as he went eight full innings with nine strikeouts and just two earned runs.
The Cats (32-19) struck first as designated hitter Daniel Meeley drove in Chris Ellison on a single to right field.
With the game tied at one, the Cats' offense began to take over as six runners came across home plate to blow the game open. With the bases loaded, Daniel Meeley was walked to push across Aljay Davis. The following batter, Chris Christopoulos, singled to center field, to score another run while leaving the bases loaded.
Cats manager Jim Essian then reached in his bag of tricks and pinch hit Logan Brumley for Kori Melo, who was in his first game back as a member of Fort Worth. Brumley doubled to clear the bases, and then eventually scored himself as Cody Bishop singled to right field.
After Fort Worth added two more insurance runs in the following inning, Cats reliever James Giulietti held the Roadrunners in check as he pitched a full frame without giving up a hit.
The loss was given to Edinburg starter Curtis Camilli (4-4) despite only giving up three runs in six innings of work.
The Cats snapped a three-game losing streak, their longest of the season, and can still salvage a series tie in tomorrow's matchup.
The Cats return home on Wednesday to begin an eight-game homestand. It will be Dollar Hot Dog Night Wednesday night as first pitch against the Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings. Tickets can be purchased online at FWCats.com or by phone at (817)332-CATS.
