Colts Acquire Pyles from Alexandria

San Angelo, Texas - The San Angelo Colts announced Tuesday they have acquired outfielder Derrick Pyles from the Alexandria Aces, and placed rookie Cody Hudson on the Inactive List.
Pyles, 30, hit .331 with five home runs and 43 RBIs in 44 games for the Aces this season. He went 2-for-6 in his Colts' debut on with two singles and two runs scored.
Pyles began his pro career in 2006 with the San Diego Surf Dawgs of the now-defunct independent Golden Baseball League. He hit .225 with a homer and seven RBIs in 22 games that year.
Pyles walked away from the game after the 2006 season, but he returned in 2011 and played in the independent Canadian-American Association (Can-Am League). Now in his fourth professional season, Pyles has a career .282 batting average, 10 home runs, and 79 RBIs in 148 games.
In order to make room for Pyles on the active roster, the Colts made Hudson inactive. The rookie outfielder is 1-for-10 with two RBIs in his first two games for San Angelo. The Colts signed Hudson on July 12.
The Colts are in the midst of a 12-game home stand. The home stand runs from Tuesday, July 9 through Saturday, July 20, and in that time the Colt face the Fort Worth Cats, Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings, and Edinburg Roadrunners. After this home stand, the Colts begin an eight-game road trip against the Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings and the Edinburg Roadrunners. The Colts then return home for their last 12-game home stand of the regular season on Tuesday, July 30.
