July 16, 2013 - United League Baseball (ULB)
Fort Worth Cats News Release
The Fort Worth Cats lost a 10-inning series finale to the Edinburg Roadrunners on Tuesday night by a score of 4-3.
Both teams were scoreless until the Cats (32-20) scored one run and Edinburg (23-28) scored two in the fifth inning.
Fort Worth tied it with a Cameron Monger sacrifice fly in the seventh and took the lead in the eighth on a balk by pitcher Alex Schmarzo before the Roadrunners tied it in the bottom half.
Cats' reliever James Giulietti loaded the bases in the bottom of the 10th and the Roadrunners won the game on a Travis Clark fielder's choice groundout.
The loss gave the Cats' their first series loss of the season. The team had either won or tied every other series prior to this week in Edinburg.
Even with the loss, Fort Worth still holds a five-game lead over the San Angelo Colts and Rio Grande Valley WhiteWings (both 26-24) in United League Baseball.
The Cats return home to Fort Worth to take on the WhiteWings on Wednesday. The game will be $1 hot dog night at historic LaGrave Field.
Tickets can be purchased by calling (817) 332-CATS or by going online to FWCats.com.
