Medford Falls to Bend in Game One

MEDFORD, OR - The Medford Rogues traveled to Bend, Oregon to face the Bend Elks in the first game of their three game series with the Elks. Medford jumped out with the early lead, but were unable to hold on until the ninth inning and fell to the Elks, 6-5. With the loss, the Rogues now have a league record of 11-11.

The Rogues got on the board early with three runs in the first inning, then two more in the second. Dan Mayer brought in one run with an RBI single then Tony Roque had a two-RBI single of his own in the first. Bend was able to score two runs in the sixth, off an RBI single by Cooper Hummel, to record the final and winning runs, in the bottom of the sixth inning.

Tony Roque led the Rogues offensively, with two hits in three at-bats, bringing in two runs. His batting average now sits at .270 . Daniel Patzlaff also was solid at the plate with one hit, one RBI and 1 run scored in three at-bats. Patzlaff's average improves to .196 on the season.

On the mound, Max Bethell went five innings for the Rogues, giving up four earned runs on 11 hits. He struck out four and gave up no walks, and now has a season ERA of 3.46. Jalen Fuhriman and Jamie Flynn came in for relief for Medford. Bend pitcher, Harrison Pyatt recorded the win for the Elks. Pyatt went 5.2 innings, gave up five hits, no runs, walked two and struck out four Medford batters. His ERA is now at 7.36.

The Medford Rogues and the Bend Elks face off again tomorrow night in the second of the three game series in Bend. First pitch is set for 6:35pm.
