Falcons Drop Middle Game
July 4, 2015 - West Coast League (WCL)
Kelowna Falcons News Release
Chris Castellanos kept the Falcons hitters off balance, and Lars Rider struck out the side in the 9th as the Falcons dropped the middle game against Cowlitz with a 5-2 loss.
The Black Bears got 3 runs off of Curtis Taylor, 1 each in 3 straight innings, as they scratched and clawed their way around the bases.
An RBI single from Hank Loforte in the 3rd, a run-scoring double play in the 4th, and a SAC FLY in the 5th would give Cowlitz a 3-0 lead.
Kelowna made it 3-2 in the 6th, as 3 doubles in the inning got a pair of runs. Hunter Villanueva had one of those RBI doubles, as he finished 3-4 in the ballgame. Andre Jackson had an RBI single as well.
The Black Bears added a run in the 7th off of Jayse Bannister, and another in the 8th off of Jared Morton for the victory.
Taylor moved to 2-1 on the season, while the Falcons mark dropped to 15-8.
Grant Meylan had a pair of hits for Kelowna, while Villanueva raised his average to .388, good for 4th in the WCL.
The Falcons will play a Fourth of July game Saturday at 1:35 in Cowlitz. Listen live at www.kelownafalcons.com
