Mechanics rock Frostbite 5-2

Glens Falls, NY – Four different Mechanics contributed goals tonight, and five Mechanics netted two point nights as Motor City earned their second consecutive victory, and ninth in eight games, a 5-2 win over the Adirondack Frostbite.

The Mechanics jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first period, on goals by Brandon Fleenor, Mike Burgoyne and Joe Burton. Both Burgoyne and Burton scored on the powerplay. In the second period, Adirondack's Justin Kelly scored his first of two for the night to cut the Mechanics lead down to two. But Burton and Jeff Doyle each found the back of the net to give Motor City a four goal lead. Kelly scored a powerplay goal late in the third period and the Mechanics held on for the 5-2 victory.

Captain Blair Manning (3a), Mike Burgoyne (1g, 1a), Joe Burton (2g), Jeff Doyle (1g, 1a), and David Bonk (2a) were multiple point getters for the Mechanics tonight. Tim Laurila also added an assist. In goal, Rod Branch made 25 saves for Motor City, while Derek Gustafson and Kris Tebbs combined to make 18 saves in net for the Frostbite.

The Mechanics continue on their road trip, playing in Danbury and Elmira Saturday and Sunday respectively. Motor City hockey returns to The Garage for the final home stand of the season. The Mechanics are home March 30th, April 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 6th. TICKETS ARE STILL AVAILABLE!
