Motor City Mechanics News Release
Fraser, MI â The last time the Motor City Mechanics and the Fort Wayne Komets met, the Mechanics shocked the top ranked Komets by beating them in their own barn. Tonight, Fort Wayne returned the favor, defeating Motor City on their home ice 4-1.
The Mechanics jumped out to a 1-0 lead mid-way through the first period on a powerplay goal by captain Blair Manning, assist going to defenseman Wade Paterson. But the Komets struck back quickly, tying the game just 30 seconds later when Chris Grenville found the back of the net. Fort Wayne notched two more in the first period to take a 3-1 lead heading into the second. Jonathan Goodwin tallied one for the Komets in the second bumping the lead to 4-1. Fort Wayne held on in the third frame for the 4-1 win.
In goal, Cory Campbell made 36 saves for the Mechanics. Kevin St. Pierre stopped 31 shots in net for the Komets.
