Mechanics Extend Win Streak

FRASER, MI-The Motor City Mechanics knock off the Kalamazoo Wings for the second time within a week and extend their winning streak to three games by defeating the Wings this afternoon 5-4 in a shootout at Wings Stadium.

Chris Bogas started the scoring at 2:59 when he fired a shot past Wings goaltender, Jeff Reynaert. The Wings responded nine minutes later to tie the game at 1-1 and both teams headed into the intermission at the same score.

It was all Mechanics in the third period as they outscored the Wings 3-1. Brent Gretzky, Peter Szabo and Vlad Serov all tallied the Mechanic goals. With Gretzkys goal in that period he tallied his 200th UHL goal in his 436th UHL game.

The Wings managed to mount a comeback and force a shootout as they scored three unanswered goals. In the shootout Vlad Serov and Chris Gignac scored while the Wings could only manage one goal.

Rod Branch made his 50th appearance and won his 26th game by making 40 saves. Both Gretzky and Szabo extended their point streaks to six straight games and Serov now has a three game goal-scoring streak.

The Mechanics return home this Friday when the Muskegon Fury return to Fraser; face-off is 7:30 PM. Saturday the Mechanics travel to Flint to take on the Generals at 7:30 PM. Sunday the Fort Wayne Komets

The "Name that Line" contest is underway as many entries have already been submitted. Fans have until midnight on February 28th to submit their entries to name the Edinger, Szabo, Gretzky line. The winning name will be revealed on March 3rd during the first intermission.
