Motor City Mechanics News Release

MUSKEGON, MI-The Muskegon Fury score four straight goals, including three goals in the third period within a span of 2 minutes and 17 seconds to defeat the Mechanics 6-3 tonight at the L.C. Walker Arena.

The Fury started the game by scoring first with less than a minute to go in the first period and headed into the intermission with the 1-0 lead.

It only took the Mechanics one minute and 25 seconds into the second period to tie the game at 1-1 when Mike Burgoyne scored on the power play with helpers from Matt Smith and Peter Szabo. Mike Burgoyne now has scored four goals in his past three games and has netted seven points in that span.

The Fury responded 52 seconds later to regain the lead, however, the Mechanics again would respond when Adam Edinger scored his eighth goal versus the Fury this season to tie the game at 2-2.

From that point on the Fury would go on to score four straight goals en route to the eventual 6-3 win over the Mechanics.

Tom Kotsopoulos would score the third goal for the Mechanics mid way through the third period, while Rod Branch made his 31st start in net and made 19 saves before being replaced by backup Bill Ruggiero four minutes into the third period.

The Mechanics remain on the road for the next five games as they will face four divisional opponents. This weekend they travel on to face Kalamazoo and Fort Wayne on Saturday and Sunday, respectively.
