McPherson named AFL\'s Offensive Player of the Week

INDIANAPOLIS â Indiana Firebirds rookie QB Adrian McPherson has been named the AFL's Offensive Player of the Week for week 15. The honor comes on the heels of the Firebirds', 59-56, thrilling victory over the Colorado Crush Sunday afternoon at Conseco Fieldhouse. In the game, McPherson threw eight touchdowns and found five different receivers for scores.
McPherson was named Rookie of the Month for March, but this is the first time he has won a weekly award. McPherson completed 15-of-24 pass attempts for 266 yards, while adding another 19 rushing yards. OS Anthony Hines and WR/DB Jordan Younger combined for nine receptions for 164 yards and five touchdowns between them, and Evan Hlavacek, Brett Bech and Andy McCullough each caught touchdown passes from McPherson in the win.
The win gave Indiana a season sweep of the Crush (9-5) and kept former Firebirds' head coach Mike Dailey from clinching a playoff berth in his first season in Colorado. McPherson catapulted himself to the # 3 rated passer in the entire AFL (120.9 QB rating) and moved from third to second in rushing yards (244). The Firebirds offense scored on nine out of ten possessions and recorded touchdowns on eight of them. The lone possession that was considered a stop was the final series of the game when McPherson ran the clock out to secure the win.
