February 8, 2011 - Indoor Football League (IFL)
Omaha Beef News Release
Returning to Omaha, quarterback James McNear is back with the Beef in hopes of a championship season. McNear who ¬â¢s played in the NIFL, UFL and IFL had debated retirement, but like any dedicated athlete, he couldn ¬â¢t hang it up.
Coming from Sioux City, where he played for the Bandits in 2010, this will be McNear ¬â¢s fourth season with Omaha. McNear started all 40 games his other three seasons while playing for the Beef. He was leading rusher and passer for the Beef, and lived up to his role of team leader, on and off the field.
Male student athlete of the year in 2006, McNear, a Des Moines native, started 45 games at his alma mater, Concordia University-St.Paul in St. Paul, Minn. McNear was also named Player of the Week by the IFL twice in 2008. At 6 ¬â¢2 ¬Â, 170 lbs., McNear ¬â¢s stature is anything but small as his explosive speed and strong arm are more than capable of leading the Beef to another championship season.
