McGoff Acquired From Trenton in Thanksgiving Day Deal

STOCKTON, Calif. - The Stockton Thunder, the proud ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League's Edmonton Oilers and American Hockey League's Springfield Falcons, announced rookie defenseman Dan McGoff has been acquired from the Trenton Devils in exchange for future considerations.

McGoff is expected to be in the Thunder lineup on Friday against the Alaska Aces (7:30 p.m., 1420 KSTN and www.StocktonThunder.com) at Stockton Arena.

McGoff, 22, has skated in 12 games for the Devils this season, registering one assist with eight penalty minutes. The 5-foot-9, 175-pound defenseman was originally signed by the Devils as a free agent on Oct. 24, 2008 and previously spent all four years (2004-08) of his college hockey career at Boston University (NCAA), skating in 94 career games for the Terriers while scoring 10 points (5g-5a) and adding 48 penalty minutes.

The native of Winchester, Mass. appeared in a career-high 35 games for Boston in 2007-08, scoring four points (1g-3a) and amassing 16 penalty minutes. As a 2006-07 junior, McGoff earned five points (4g-1a) and 14 penalty minutes when he was co-recipient of the team's "unsung hero" award.

The Thunder was voted "Best Local Sports Team" by readers of San Joaquin Magazine, has led the ECHL in attendance for three consecutive seasons and drew 239,337 fans to Stockton Arena in 2007-08.
