
McGill Traded to Louisiana as Part of October Deal

Peoria Rivermen head coach Jean-Guy Trudel announced Friday that winger Aaron McGill has been traded to the Louisiana Ice Gators, completing a deal from October 11, 2013 which sent forward Robert Short to Peoria for future considerations. Short, however, was injured during the second day of training camp and never made an appearance for the Rivermen.

McGill, 24, was acquired on New Year's Day in a trade with the Fayetteville FireAntz for center Corey Tamblyn. In 17 appearances with the Rivermen, he collected four points (2g, 2a) and 50 penalty minutes. Overall, McGill has recorded 13 points (3g, 10a) and 101 penalty minutes in 36 games this season.
A native of Salem, Oregon, McGill notched 30 points (12g, 18a) and a whopping 249 penalty minutes during 47 games with the Huntsville Havoc last season. He began his pro career with the now defunct Augusta RiverHawks in 2010-11 and made 73 appearances over two years with the team (16g, 30a, 297 PIM). The 6'1, 200-pound forward also played seven games with the Allen Americans (Central Hockey League) in 2011-12.
Short, 24, spent each of the last three seasons in the Southern Professional Hockey League and was a fan-favorite during his tenure in Louisiana. In 2012-13, he notched 49 points (13g, 36a) with 79 penalty minutes in 51 regular season games for the IceGators. He also added a goal and four assists in six playoff games.
The 6'0, 215-pound native of Coldstream, British Columbia had been with Louisiana since the 2010-11 season. In 117 career games for the IceGators, he notched 44 goals and 64 assists for 108 points. During his pro career, he also spent two games with Rio Grande Valley (CHL) in 2011-12 and 26 games with Pensacola (SPHL) in 2010-11.
