
Gingera Nets Hat Trick, Leads Columbus to 5-0 Win over Fayetteville

Matt Gingera lifted the Columbus Cottonmouths to a 5-0 victory with a hat trick against the Fayetteville FireAntz.
Gingera's first goal came 4:07 into the first period. He then added goals at 11:25 into the first and at 9:09 into the second.
Columbus was boosted by Andrew Loewen, who turned in a shutout with 34 saves. Loewen certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 2.9 entering the contest.
The Cottonmouths excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. Columbus' offense was clicking better than usual and put 42 shots on goal during the game, better than the 27.2 shots per game it averages.
Columbus additionally got points from Preston Shupe, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Andy Willigar, who also registered one goal and one assist. In addition, Columbus received assists from Jordan Draper, who had two and Will Aide, Levi Lind, Sam Bowles, and Tory Allan, who each chipped in one.
Fayetteville was held below its usual level of production. The FireAntz average 2.6 goals per game. Penalties took their toll on Fayetteville, as its penalty kill unit let in two power play goals. The FireAntz forced the Cottonmouths goalie Loewen to work between the pipes, taking 34 shots.
Fayetteville was led by Nick Craven, who took six shots.
Columbus ended with 23 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major. Peter Skoggard took the loss and made 16 saves before being replaced by Dustin Carlson who made 21 saves. The FireAntz ended with 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major.
