Rockford RiverHawks News Release
ROCKFORD, Ill. - Aaron McEachran is becoming a dominant figure in the Rockford-Evansville series with minimal opportunity.
McEachran hit a two-run homer in the first inning to help the RiverHawks beat the Otters, 8-5.
Evansville pitching has walked McEachran five times in two games in the series. He walked twice and drove in a run with a sacrifice fly on Wednesday. He's been limited to three official at-bats in the series, but has two hits.
The Otters hit three home runs off Rockford pitching. Steve Martin homered to lead off the game, but McEachran's response shot to right field in the bottom of the first put the RiverHawks in front to stay.
Rockford added four runs in the fifth inning on RBI doubles by Olmo Rosario, Ashley Farr and Ryan Larson to knock out Evansville starter Bryan Shartzer (2-1).
Justin Olson (2-1) pitched into the sixth inning for the win. Jason Glosser pitched a 1-2-3 ninth for his third save.
The series finale is at 7:05 p.m. on Thirsty Thursday. Miller Lite sponsors Dollar Beer Night.
The RiverHawks are the defending champions of the Frontier League, a 12-team independent professional baseball league in its 13th season. All games are broadcasted live on WRHL-FM, 102.3 - the Hub.
