FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - The Fayetteville Marksmen, proud members of the SPHL, fell 4-1 to the Macon Mayhem on Thursday night.
Khaden Henry buried a rebound 10:24 into the first period, on a play created by Connor May and Evan Beers, putting the Mayhem up 1-0. Just 36 seconds later, Alex Cohen doubled the lead, capitalizing on another rebound at 11:00, with helpers from Jake Goldowski and Nick Dineen to make it 2-0, rounding out the first period scoring.
Justin Kelley poked home a rebound right at the top of the crease 1:38 into the middle frame, set up by Matteo Ybarra and Conor Witherspoon, making it 3-0 for the lone goal of the second period.
Shane Murphy gave the Marksmen a pulse, crashing the net and finishing a rebound created by John Moncovich 1:25 into the final frame, making it 3-1. Justin Kelley logged his second of the night into an empty net at 18:25, securing the 4-1 final.
Ryan Kenny stopped 27-of-30 in the Marksmen effort and Josh Boyko stopped 27-of-28 in the Mayhem win.
