MACON, GA- The Macon Mayhem split a pair of road games this past weekend to keep their third-place standing, and they will now play three games in five days - starting on the road against the Mississippi RiverKings on Tuesday.

WEEKEND RECAP

The Mayhem went 1-1-0 in two road games against the Evansville Thunderbolts and the Knoxville Ice Bears this past weekend. They started on Friday with a come-from-behind 3-2 overtime victory over Evansville. Jake Trask scored two goals, including the game-winner, while Dakota Klecha tallied two assists and Kevin Irwin scored a third-period goal. Macon then fell in a back-and-forth affair at Knoxville by score of 5-4. Dylan Denomme led the team in the contest with his first professional hat trick.

WEEK PREVIEW

The team starts out the week on the road for another Tuesday game in Mississippi against the RiverKings. They then return home on Thursday, as the Knoxville Ice Bears are in town for College Spring Break Night. The arena will be offering $3 Coors Light pints and $2 hot dogs. The Mayhem finish out the week on the road, as they take on the Huntsville Havoc on Saturday.

Mississippi RiverKings Preview

2017-2018 Team Record (As of February 26): 20-19-2 (42 points; 7th Place)

Season Series (Last Meeting): Series tied 2-2-0 (4-1 RiverKings win on February 6th)

Leading Scorer: Devin Mantha (41 games played, 16 goals, 24 assists, 40 points)

Goaltending Situation: Tyler Green (32 GP, 14-13-2 record, 2.95 goals against average, .901 save percentage); Jared Rutledge (14 GP, 6-6-0 record, 3.28 GAA, .873 SV%)

After winning the first two meetings of the season by score of 13-4, the Mayhem have lost the last two matchups and have been outscored 12-4. Mississippi struggles in the scoring department, as they rank eighth in the SPHL in goals per game at 3.07. They rank third in the league in goals against per game, however, at 3.12 per game.

Knoxville Ice Bears Preview

2017-2018 Team Record (As of February 26): 23-15-4 (50 points; 5th Place)

Season Series (Last Meeting): 2-1-1 record vs. Knoxville (5-4 overtime loss on February 24th)

Leading Scorer: Berkley Scott (42 GP, 22 goals, 28 assists, 50 points - 2nd in SPHL)

Goaltending Situation: Zoltan Hetenyi (30 GP, 15-14-1 record, 3.09 GAA, .909 SV%); Troy Davenport (11 GP, 7-0-3 record, 2.85 GAA, .913 SV%)

Knoxville and Macon have matched up very evenly this season. The two teams splitting the four-game season series, and in all four games, the final score has been 5-4. Knoxville ranks third in goals per game at 3.64 and sixth in goals against per game at 3.26. They are fifth in power play at 17.09%, but they rank first in the league in penalty kill at 88.76%.

Huntsville Havoc Preview

2017-2018 Team Record (As of February 26): 24-14-5 (53 points; 4th Place)

Season Series (Last Meeting): 1-2-0 record vs. Huntsville (7-1 Mayhem win on January 12th)

Leading Scorer: Sy Nutkevitch (42 GP, 15 goals, 32 assists, 47 points - 5th in SPHL)

Goaltending Situation: Keegan Asmundson (28 GP, 14-10-2 record, 2.97 GAA, .909 SV%); Mike DeLaVergne (19 GP, 10-4-3 record, 3.16 GAA, .908 SV%)

After losing the first two games of the season series, Macon bounced back in the last matchup and won 7-1. Huntsville has been holding strong in the middle of the pack in the SPHL, as they are 2-2-1 over their last five games and 5-4-1 over their last 10 games. They rank near the middle of the league in goals per game - fourth at 3.56 per game - and goals against per game - fourth at 3.23 per game. Their power play is a force, ranking second at 21.52%, but their penalty kill ranks 10th in the league at 77.14%.
