Hoping to clinch a berth in the 2019 President's Cup Playoffs with a point, the Mayhem were heavily outshot by the Fayetteville Marksmen and fell by a 4-1 margin.

Just 4:24 into the contest, John Siemer stole the puck in the neutral zone and closed in on the Fayetteville net on a partial breakaway. He deked free of the lone backchecker and tucked his shot over Nathan to give the Mayhem a 1-0 lead. It was the third straight game against Fayetteville in which the Mayhem had drawn first blood.

However, the Marksmen had a swift response. David Mazurek lofted a backhand saucer pass through the Macon slot on a 3-on-2 rush. Cody Brown, the first star from Friday night's tilt, was there to tap the puck past Ian Sylves to level the score. Mazurek buried a power play goal late in the opening stanza, taking advantage of a slashing infraction called against Taylor Love.

Taylor McCloy stole the show in the second period. He put his nose to the grindstone in the Macon zone and eventually forced the puck through Sylves to double Fayetteville's lead 9:07 into period two. Shortly after the Mayhem went to a 5-on-3 power play, McCloy took the puck away and drove down the right wing before burying a shorthanded, unassisted goal to give the Marksmen a 4-1 edge. The Mayhem found themselves in a considerable deficit in the second intermission.

The Mayhem generated several scoring chances midway through the closing period. Caleb Cameron dangled into the right circle and snapped a hard shot off, but he was denied by Perry's glove. The red-hot goaltender managed to deny Seth Ronsberg from point-blank range shortly thereafter, reading a crisp three-way passing play from Siemer and Josh Koepplinger. Derek Sutliffe also had a strong opportunity in the low slot, but he just missed wide of the left post.

Zach White earned a penalty shot in his second professional game, but Sylves denied him on the 1-on-1 opportunity. Regardless, the Marksmen managed to hang on for a 4-1 win and swept the Mayhem at Crown Coliseum.

Sylves denied 39 of 43 Marksmen shots in his 11th defeat on the campaign, while Perry halted 23 of 24 to earn a third star of the game performance. The Mayhem will return to the Macon Centreplex to host the Huntsville Havoc next Friday, March 15th on Military Appreciation Weekend. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:35 pm EST.
