Macon Mayhem News Release

Shawn Skelly scored two goals and claimed the scoring lead in the Southern Professional Hockey League, leading the Macon Mayhem to a 3-1 win over the Pensacola Ice Flyers Saturday night at the Macon Coliseum.

It was the second time in two nights the Mayhem won back-to-back games against Pensacola. And it was the second time this season the Mayhem beat Pensacola back-to-back, having also done so January 23rd and 24th in Pensacola.

Skelly opened the scoring at 9:22 of the first period. Mike Krieg tied it for Pensacola at 14:39. That was the only one of 23 Pensacola shots to beat Mayhem goaltender Curtis Martinu who picked up his second win in as many nights.

Skelly's second goal of the night, and 19th of the season came at 7:01 of the third period. That combined with his 24 assists gives him 43 points on the season, one ahead of Pensacola's Corey Banfield, who was held scoreless in the two games. the Mayhem's Anton Lennartsson assisted on both of Skelly's goals.

Lucas LaBelle clinched the victory for Macon with an empty net goal with 1:09 left to play. The Mayhem embarks on a seven game road trip, the longest of the season, starting Sunday at Fayetteville at 4:05 p.m. The next home game for Macon is not until March 17th against Knoxville.
