LAST GAME PLAYED:
The Mayhem battled from two goals down last night in Roanoke, defeating the Rail Yard Dawgs 5-4. Dakota Klecha, John Siemer, Jake Trask and Caleb Cameron led the offense with multi- point games. Fayetteville won for the first time since February 2nd last night, defeating the Knoxville Ice Bears 6-4.
SCOUTING THE MARKSMEN:
With their victory on Friday, the Marksmen ended their 12-game losing streak and their 16-game winless streak. Over their last 17 games, the Marksmen have scored 41 goals (2.56 per game) and allowed 81 goals (5.06 per game). Despite the long losing drought, Jake Hauswirth continues to fill up the stat sheet. He has 23 goals, 25 assists and 58 points in 48 games this season. He recorded three points last night to secure his 200th career SPHL point. The Marksmen rank last in the league in goals for (2.65 per game), goals against (4.50 per game) and penalty kill percentage (76.3%).
PUTTING THE POWER BACK IN POWER PLAY:
Heading into last Saturday against the Huntsville Havoc, the Mayhem had gone three games without a power play goal and had converted on just five of their past 66 man-advantage opportunities. In their three games since then, they have scored at least one power play goal in each game. After going three-for four on the power play last night against Roanoke, they have converted on six of their last 14 PP opportunities (42.9% conversion rate). The Mayhem's streaking power play faces a great matchup on Saturday, as the Marksmen rank last in the SPHL in penalty kill percentage at just 76.3%.
HONEY, YOU THINK KFC'S STILL OPEN?
Jake Trask is going streaking, as he is currently on a seven-game point streak and a six-game assist streak. Over his seven-game point streak, Trask has three goals, eight assists and 11 points. His SIX-game assist streak, in which he has eight assists, is a season-long for Mayhem players. He now has a career-best 59 points in 46 games this season and has recorded at least one point in 26 of his past 32 games. The team's longest point streak of the season was also recorded by Trask, as he had an eight-game point streak from December 8th through December 30th
BACK IN ACTION:
The Mayhem continue their six-game road trip next weekend, as they travel to Peoria for the first time this season to take on the Rivermen on Friday and Saturday.
