Macon Mayhem News Release
MACON, GA- Mississippi's Matt Harrington scored two goals tonight, as the Macon Mayhem were defeated by the Mississippi RiverKings 5-2 on Teddy Bear Toss Night at the Macon Coliseum.
The RiverKings got off to an early start in this game, as Matt Harrington scored at the 6:26 mark of the first period, but that lead would not hold. Stathis Soumelidis scored with 54 seconds left in the period to tie the game up, and the teddy bears came raining onto the ice.
In the second period, Chris Leone and Ryan Marcuz scored back to back on the power play to give the RiverKings the 3-1 lead. After some fisticuffs involving multiple players from both teams, the Mayhem gained momentum and capitalized. Daniel Sobotka blasted a shot from the point for his first goal of the season to make it a 3-2 game.
Just 31 seconds into the third period, Matt Harrington scored his second of the game to give Mississippi a 4-2 lead. There would only be one more goal in the game, and that was an empty net goal from Mike Moran, giving the RiverKings the 5-2 victory.
