Eras for Education Raffle: On May 1, the Hurricanes announced the winners of the Eras for Education Raffle.

Congratulations to Jeff Oudman who was the winner of the two VIP tickets to see Taylor Swift in Toronto on November 16th at Rogers Place. Additionally, Heather Hacior who won two Hurricanes season tickets for the 2024-2025 season and Thomas Gunderson who won one Hurricanes season ticket for next year.

KidSport & Canadian Cancer Society Donation: During the 2023-2024 regulation season, Hurricanes players Miguel Marques, Tristen Doyle and Will Sharpe agreed to donate $10.00 for every point they amassed with $5.00 going to KidSport Lethbridge & Taber and $5.00 for Canadian Cancer Society. In total, the three combined for 110 points totaling $1,100. The Hurricanes organization matched the donation for a grand total of $2,200 benefitting the two charities.

Saves for CRH: Hurricanes netminders Harrison Meneghin, Brady Smith and Koen Cleaver totaled a whopping 1,036 saves made during all 'Canes home games in 2023-2024. Shawn Hass of Hass Wealth Management pledged a donation of $10.00 for each save made this season for a grand total of $10,360 benefitting the Chinook Regional Hospital.

UPCOMING DATES

2024 WHL Prospects Draft: The WHL will hold their annual WHL Prospects Draft on Thursday, May 9th. The Hurricanes will hold the 13th overall selection in the first round - marking the third time they've selected 13th overall. Previous 13th overall selections by the Hurricanes included: Kenny Petkau (2002) and David Trofimenkoff (1991). The 'Canes will select three times in the top-60 with picks 13, 32, and 58.

2024 US Priority Draft: On May 8th, the WHL will hold their fifth ever US Priority Draft. The Hurricanes will select 13th and 35th in the two-round draft. Last year, the 'Canes drafted North McKee and Logan Stuart with their 14th and 36th overall selections.

NEWS & NOTES

Norrie Signs with Hurricanes: The Hurricanes announced on April 23 they have signed 2007-born forward Cameron Norrie to WHL Scholarship & Development Agreement. Norrie was undrafted in the WHL Prospects Draft. The Kelowna, BC, product recoded 34 points (16g-18a) and 20 penalty minutes during the 2023-2024 season with the Kelowna RINK Hockey Academy U18 Prep team in the CSSHL.

NHL Central Scouting Final Rankings: Three Hurricanes players were named by NHL Central Scouting for their Final Rankings for the 2024 NHL Entry Draft. Miguel Marques (53rd), Brayden Edwards (170th) and Landen Ward (224th) were all ranked among North American skaters. The NHL Draft is slated for June 28-29 in Las Vegas at the Sphere.

Arny to Abby: Outgoing Hurricanes captain Joe Arntsen signed a professional contract with the American Hockey League's Abbotsford Canucks for the 2024-2025 season. He has joined the Canucks on an Amateur Tryout for the remainder of this season. The Dinsmore, SK, product appeared in 268 regular season games with the Hurricanes in his career finishing with 106 points (27g-79a) along with 321 penalty minutes.

Alumni Signs: 'Canes alumnus Oliver Okuliar signed a one-year, entry-level contract with the Florida Panthers. The Slovakian sniper appeared in 55 games during the cancelled 2019-2020 season racking up 68 points (33g-35a). He has spent the last two seasons with Mountfield HK of the Czech Extraliga where he recoded 45 points (24g-21a) in 52 games.

Chadwick in TO: Hurricanes defenceman Noah Chadwick has been with the Toronto Marlies since the 'Canes season ended. The signed sixth-round draft pick of the Toronto Maple Leafs made his pro debut on April 21st when the Marlies played the Cleveland Monsters. The Saskatoon, SK, product finished the game pointless with two penalty minutes.

Award Nominations: Hurricanes goaltender Harrison Meneghin was named the Central Division Goaltender of the Year while being named a finalist for the WHL's Del Wilson Memorial Trophy as the WHL Goaltender of the Year. Noah Chadwick was also named the Central Division Scholastic of the Year Award; he is also a finalist for the WHL's Daryl K. Doc Seaman Memorial Trophy.
