The Mavs host the Tulsa Oilers on March 17 and Bloomington Blaze on March 23 before closing out their home schedule on March 24 against the Oilers. The Mavs hold a 16-11-3 record on home ice this season.
Rookie leader - Mavericks rookie forward Andrew Courtney leads the Mavericks with 25 goals this season. Among all CHL rookies, Courtney is tied with Tulsa Oilers' forward Mike Ullrich for the most goals scored by a rookie this season. Courtney also broke the Mavs rookie goal scoring record earlier in the season.
Hogg's impressive run - Mavs rookie forward Kris Hogg has recorded points in nine of his last 10 games, scoring seven goals and notching three assists for 10 points. On the season, Hogg has 11 goals and seven assists for 18 points in 43 games played this season.
Down to the wire - The Mavericks currently hold a two-point advantage over the Rapid City Rush and Quad City Mallards for third place in the CHL's Turner Conference. The Mavs are also six points back of the second place Fort Wayne Komets and eight points behind the Evansville IceMen for the conference's top overall spot. The Mavericks have seven games remaining on their regular season and have played their final games against the Rush and Mallards this season, but have a game at-hand over the Mallards.
Awards season - The Mavericks had three players nominated for CHL year-end awards on Wednesday. Charlie Effinger has been nominated for Most Outstanding Goaltender, David Pszenyczny for Most Outstanding Defenseman and Andrew Courtney for Rookie of the Year.
Mac Awards at Isle of Capri - The second edition of the Mac Awards is on Tuesday, March 13 from 5-8 p.m. at the Lone Wolf Bar & Grill at Isle of Capri Casino.
